The Agriinfluencer Network (AiN) comprises a select group of 12 young, influential agripreneurs from Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Ghana, Nigeria, and Senegal. These individuals have established themselves as authorities in leveraging social media to support their livelihoods in the agricultural sector, a practice we term Social Agriculture. Members engage in various activities within the agricultural value chain, including fruit and vegetable cultivation, animal rearing, agro-processing, on-farm training, sharing agronomic and health advisories, and marketing. The combined social media reach of the AiN members nears 2 million followers across 8 major platforms.
AiN was established, as a pilot, in response to the growing need for a supportive network of agripreneurs who leverage digital platforms to address challenges in the agricultural sector. This initiative stems from over three years of research on Social Agriculture. The research uncovered a pressing demand for concrete support for young agripreneurs on their journey and in 2024, the AiN was launched as a direct response to these findings, shifting from applied research to actionable solutions.
By bringing together influential voices from across the African continent and leveraging their collective reach, the AiN aims to foster collaboration, share best practices, through publically accessible knowledge products, including a best-practices training curriculum and a mentorship program.
